The Board is the representative body for greyhound racing in the United Kingdom.
Directors of the Board include greyhound owners, breeders, trainers, track owners and the Senior Steward of the NGRC.
All rule changes, licence and registration issues must be discussed with the Board, which primarily exists to promote the best interests of greyhound racing. The Board takes the lead in political and commercial matters impacting on the sport. The Board is also actively involved in greyhound welfare, marketing and the development of IT.
The Board enjoys close links with national animal welfare groups and has overall responsibility for the Retired Greyhound Trust.

Lord David Lipsey has been the Chairman of the British Greyhound Racing Board since December 2003.
He came to the post with a considerable knowledge of and involvement in greyhound racing. He is also a Trustee of the Retired Greyhound Trust and a member of the welfare body the Greyhound Forum.
David Lipsey, a Labour life peer, is also chairman of the Racing Trust which is buying the Tote from the government for racing and is president of the British Harness Racing Club. He is a former Tote Board director, economics editor for the Sunday Times and was the political editor of the Economist.
Executive Committee – This committee will be empowered to take necessary decisions between board meetings on BGRB finance and budgeting, the co-ordination of BGRB activities, communication and PR, political strategy and marketing.

Commercial – concerned with all commercial matters including the training of racecourses, management and non-racing operatives, data management, IT services and legal affairs. It will be chaired by Clarke Osborne – BGRB Director and CEO of Gaming International.

Racing – This committee will include all matters of racing which are not specifically linked to welfare. The remit will include close communication with the National Greyhound Racing Club. This committee will have the important role of dealing with the distribution of prize money. The racing committee will be chaired by John Curran – Kinsley promoter and BGRB Director.

Welfare – The committee works closely with the NGRC over rules and best practices in the sport. It is particularly focussed on track safety and track improvement work, welfare research, retired greyhounds, the trainers' assistance fund and the training and education programme. The committee continues to be chaired by BGRB Director and Welfare Consultant, John Haynes.
